Bizzie Lizzie of Hutaka

Bizzie Lizzie was a mischievous (but normal) puppy that I had back in lieu of a stud fee for Tawny Knight. There were just 2 puppies in the litter. When we caught her up to something she shouldn’t have been, we would often say “You little Sod ya” and of course – the name stuck! It lengthened over time to “Sod Box” and eventually was shortened to just “Box”!
She became the matriarch of my whippet ‘team’ and had everyone under her firm, but gentle command. When the whippet boys would step out of order with her, she would fly at them, get hold of a flap of skin and then hold on! She never punctured any of the boys, but they all treated her with the greatest of respect! She won 2 reserve CC’s in her show career, but proved far more beneficial as a brood bitch. In her first litter for me she produced a beautiful red brindle bitch “Hutaka Highsiesta” who went to the Kennel du Manoir de la Grenouillere and
Hutaka High SiestaMme Jackie Bourdin in France and was herself the mother of a top winning bitch in Scandinavia – “Huta du Manoir de la Grenouillere” and her brother “Hugo du Manoir de la Grenouillere“, equally successful as a sire.
I gave my mother Jan Beckett (Phinjani) one of the bitches from the litter, (Hutaka Highlight) who whilst running at 8 months old, unfortunately leaped off a 60 foot high bridge! Her shoulder was shattered, her back leg broken and the impact popped her lungs. We weren’t sure she would survive. Mum was devastated, so I loaned her Bizzie Lizzie , selected a choice of stud dog and allowed her to be the breeder of the litter that eventually produced Champion Phinjani Pinball Wizard. French Ch Phinjani Pierre and Swedish Ch Phinjani Pipin . (Highlight not only survived but went on to have her own litters)!
